Overcoming Autism thanks to Pokémon Go

With the release of Pokémon Go last month, the world has been filled with people strolling around with their smartphones in front of them, however there are huge benefits for those with Autism.

Love it or hate it, the latest mobile craze has been having real positive effects for people, notably those that are on the Autistic Spectrum.

With the mixture of virtual reality and real life, it appears Pokémon go is helping to break down the barriers of social interaction for those on the Spectrum, such as the story of Adam covered by the BBC, and Ralphie covered by the Huffington Post.

Autism Speaks discusses the benefits of Pokémon Go even further here in this article. Also the National Autistic Society praises the benefits of the game too.

Have you experienced the benefits of Pokémon Go for someone on the Autistic spectrum?

It’s also believed that the creator of Pokémon, Mr. Satoshi Tajiri, is also on the Autistic Spectrum, with Aspergers Syndrome. With the global success Pokémon brand, it’s a clear indication that the condition should not be viewed as something to hold you back.
